§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the special circumstances now prevailing, the Admiralty have considered the advisability of building steel houses in Devonport Dockyard; whether the Admiral Superintendent has been consulted as to the possibility; and whether the Admiralty will now entertain this proposal in view of the shortage of houses in Devonport, and the gravity of the unemployment problem in that town?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANI regret that the hon. Member's suggestion is not practicable, as the Royal. Dockyards are not equipped for the construction of steel houses as a business proposition, and moreover such work could not be undertaken without seriously interfering with the progress of the work on His Majesty's ships building and repairing in the dockyards.
