HC Deb 09 February 1926 vol 191 c861W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the hardship inflicted upon unemployed men and women in Southwark owing to being obliged to wait in exposed positions outside the Walworth Road (Borough) Employment Exchange; and will he cause arrangements to be made that will obviate the need for unemployed men and women being obliged to wait such long periods when attending to sign on or to draw benefit?

Mr. BETTERTON

I have had inquiry made. I find that at the Borough Employment Exchange claimants are timed to attend at intervals of 15 minutes to prove unemployment, and if they attend at the proper time they are under no necessity to wait outside the Exchange.
