HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 c355W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many War Claims against Turkey have been put forward; what is the total amount of money available for compensation: and the date when the Paris Commission was first set up?

Mr. R. McNEILL

Approximately 15,000 claims have been submitted to the Inter-Allied Commission; the amount available for distribution by the Commission is about £5,000,000; the Commission was first set up in August, 1924.

Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether any payments have been made to British subjects on account of their reparations claims against Turkey; and, if so, under what conditions other claimants can receive payments?

Mr. McNEILL

The Inter-Allied Commission for the Assessment of Damage suffered in Turkey have not yet made any payments either to British or to other claimants.
