HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 c343W
Mr. D. GRENFELL

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will consider the issue of regulations making it compulsory to keep bore holes in advance of all new roadways approaching in the direction of abandoned workings the exact location of which is unknown?

Colonel LANE FOX

This is part of the general question of the precautions necessary to prevent danger in mines from accumulations of water now under inquiry by a Departmental Committee, and it will be better, I think, to defer consideration of the question of amending legislation until the Committee has reported to me.
