HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 cc341-2W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will consider the desirability of making adequate provision for the education of Indian children in Fiji; and whether the Government of Fiji is taking any steps to make such provision?

Mr. AMERY

The question of a general review of the educational arrangements in Fiji, in order to meet the growing needs of the children of all classes in the Colony, has been under the consideration of the Golonial Government for some time. A decision to appoint a Commission, on which it is hoped to include representatives of the European, Fijian and Indian sections of the community, has recently been taken.
