HC Deb 15 December 1926 vol 200 cc2956-7W
Sir C. CAYZER

asked the Minister of Health whether local authorities are encouraged to make use of the Spahlinger treatment for tuberculosis; whether this is one of the special benefits on which insurance societies can apply their surpluses; and whether any estimate can be given of the sum of money needed to introduce the system of treatment on an extended scale in this country?

Sir K. WOOD

The answer to all three parts of the question is in the negative. I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave on this subject to the hon. Member for North Lambeth (Mr. Briant) on the 27th April. So far as my right hon. Friend is aware the position in regard to this treatment has not changed since that date, and the materials necessary for a scientific investigation of the treatment in this country have not been forthcoming.
