HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 cc2320-1W
Mr. SHORT

asked the President of the Board of Education the number of admis- sions to grant-earning secondary schools during the present term as compared with a year ago?

Lord E. PERCY

The number of new pupils admitted to secondary schools on the grant-list in England and Wales at the beginning of the current School year was about 69,000, as compared with 67,218 a year ago. The hon. Member may find more useful for his purpose the figures showing the numbers of pupils over 10 admitted' during the current and the previous year, which are estimated to be for 1925–26–74,982, and for 1926–27–77,361.
