HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 c2312W
Mr. PARKINSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the persistent default of the Poultonle-Fylde Urban District Council in complying with the Board's requirements as regards the purity of the gas supplied by that council, he will take steps to enforce compliance by the council with statutory requirements?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I am informed that the local gas examiner has reported against the purity of the gas supplied by the council on two occasions, on 5th April, 1926, and on 20th November, 1926. I understand that in respect of the second report the council have appealed to the Chief Gas Examiner, and hence the matter is now sub judice. The forfeiture to which the council are subject in the event of a proved default is specified in the Gas Regulation Act, 1920 (Section 9 (2)), and I am not authorised to intervene in the matter.
