Mr. CHAMBERLAINOf the 1,800 local authorities in England and Wales, 1,612 have received approval to schemes under the Housing Acts of 1923 and 1924. I have in a number of cases, upon complaint being made, investigated eases where no schemes have been submitted, but no instance has yet occurred in which I have felt it necessary to exercise the powers conferred on me by Section 9 of the Act of 1924.
