HC Deb 15 April 1926 vol 194 cc498-9W
Major GLYN

asked the Secretary of State for War what was the total value of oats purchased for the use of the Army in the years 1920 to 1925, respectively, and of hay and straw for the same periods?

Captain KING

The total cost of purchases of forage made during the years in question is as follows:

£
1920–21 4,370,852
1921–22 1,509,609
1922–23 810,472
1923–24 673,766
1924–25 614,250
There are no Records available showing how much of the above expenditure on forage can be attributed to oats, hay and straw, respectively. Any such analysis would entail a disproportionate amount of labour on the part of all Commands, and I hope the hon. and gallant Member will not press for it.
