§ Mr. McNEILLI regret that the information for which my hon. Friend asks is not readily available for all the countries which he mentions. Figures for the five chief countries were given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the 2nd April last, and I will send my hon. Friend a copy. I would add that owing to the great difference between the financial systems of the various countries, and the wide variations in their national income, comparisons between the burden of taxation in different countries require to be drawn with the greatest caution and with many qualifications.
