§ Colonel DAYasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to a case recently dealt with at the Willesden children's court, where a lad was charged with being in possession of firearms without a licence; whether he is aware that the police evidence showed that this lad purchased what was known as a harmless pistol and, by drilling out the bore, converted. it into a dangerous weapon, with the result that he accidentally shot and seriously injured a girl; and will he state what steps are being taken by the police to prevent the sale of toys that are likely to become such dangerous weapons?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSMy attention has been drawn to the case referred to. The sale of firearms that are lethal weapons is restricted, but the Act does not impose restrictions on the sale of toys that are not within that description.
