§ Mr. MONTAGUEasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the decision in reference to civil servants' war bonus, he will consider the settlement of those claims at the earliest possible date which are still pending; and whether he can state the causes of delay?
Mr. GUINNESSEndeavour is being made by the Departments concerned to deal with claims for arrears of war bonus as expeditiously as possible, and I understand that the majority of claims have already been settled. The claims still outstanding are those which present special complications, as in the case of deceased persons, persons who have resigned from or left the Service, persons whose position under the Military Service Acts is not free from doubt and so on
