§ Mr. H. WILLIAMSasked the President of the Board of Education the estimated number of pupils in the public elementary schools during the present financial year and during each of the next three financial years?
§ Lord E. PERCYFor the purpose of the Board's Estimates, 1925-26, an average attendance of 5,016,000 has been assumed. Owing to the fluctuations in the number of children who may attend school before or after the period of compulsory attendance, it is not practicable to frame anything in the nature of a reliable estimate of the figures for future years, but such information as I have before me suggests that the figures arc likely to show a slight further diminution over the next three years.
