asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the total cost of, and the amount of fees collected by, the principal probate registry and the district probate registries, respectively?
In 1924 the total fees taken in the district probate registries was £105,228, and in the principal probate registry for contentious as web as non-contentious business £182,786. The cost incurred in respect of salaries and bonus was in the district probate registries £66,082, and in the 1873W principal probate registry £52,572. These figures do not include the cost of buildings, rates, lighting, heating, printing, stationery, postage, travelling and subsistence expenses, pensions, etc.
