STEEL-MAITLANDThe successive Decrees of the Federal Government determining the principles under which financial assistance is provided by the State and Local Authorities under 1345W the scheme of unemployment insurance at present in operation in Germany have been described in articles that have appeared in the following issues of the "Ministry of Labour Gazette," copies of which I am sending to my hon. and gallant Friend: November, 1923 (page 4n2); March, 1924 (page 82); October, 1924 (page 357). I would, at the same time, remind him that the scheme of unemployment insurance now in operation in Germany is of a provisional nature only, and that a Bill providing for an amended scheme is at present being considered by the Federal Economic Council.
