§ Rear Admiral BEAMISHasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the graves of British officers and men in Dunkirk Town cemetery have not yet been furnished with engraved headstones, and that the permanent construction of the cemetery has not yet been commenced, notwithstanding the lapse of more than six years since the Armistice; and will he state what action he is taking to remedy this state of affairs?
§ Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANSIt has been necessary to divide the 1,200 larger cemeteries in France and Flanders into geographical groups so that construction may be carried out most expeditiously by the contractors. Dunkirk is not in one of the groups which have so far been dealt with, but it is hoped that work may begin in this cemetery within the next six months. In the meantime, all graves, whether the headstones have been erected or not, are tended by the Commission with equal care and on the same permanent standard of maintenance.
