Mr. GRUNDY

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office what is the salary paid to the manager of the Navy, Army, and Air Force Institute; and if he will furnish the names of the members of the board of management, and particulars of their experience in the catering and distributive trades?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON - EVANS:

Under the Articles of Association which govern the conduct of the Navy, Army, and Air Force Institutes, the remuneration paid to the general manager is a matter which rests solely with the board of management. It is not a charge against the Votes of any or either of the three Service Departments

The names of the present board of management are as follow:

  • Colonel M. J. Wilson, M.P. (Chairman)
  • G. McKechnie, Esquire (Deputy Chairman)
  • Lieut.Colonel the Viscount Downe, C.M.G., D. S. O
  • Paymaster Captain B. C. Allen, C.B., M.V.O
  • Lieut.Colonel G. Harding, D.S.O. R.A.S.C
  • Wing Commander C. Fraser, C.M.G., 0.B.E., M.C

The members of the board are appointed by the Council of the Navy, Army. and Air Force Institutes on the recommendation of the three Service Departments, and in each ease that recommendation is Lased on satisfactory knowledge as to the business capacity and general suitability of the individual concerned
