§ Sir F. WISEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if Germany has been buying silver in the United States: if so, how much has been bought in 1924; and had Germany the leave of the Reparation Commission to do so?
Mr. GRAHAMI understand from the Press that such purchases have been made, but my right hon. Friend is not in a position to give details of the action of the German Treasury in this matter. The Reparation Commission was not, I understand, consulted; but it does not appear that the Commission has any rights or duties under the Treaty of Versailles in this matter.
