§ Sir R. ASKEasked the President of the Board of Education whether he has 2025W considered the representations of the Newcastle Education Committee as to the difficulties at present experienced in staffing suitably the Juvenile Unemployment Centres, held under the auspices of the Ministry, owing largely to the fact that such service is temporary in character and is not recognised for the purpose of the School Teachers (Superannuation) Acts; and whether the Ministry will make such arrangements as will lead to the removal of these difficulties?
§ Mr. TREVELYANI have seen the Resolution to which the hon. Baronet refers and I have discussed the matter with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour. But, as I have already stated in reply to several questions in this House, as long as the existing arrangements for financing the Centres continue, it would not be possible for me, without amending legislation, to treat service in them as recognised service for the purposes of the School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1918.
