§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the growing practice in certain parts of the country of old houses being bought up by speculators and being let off in single rooms to families at high rents; is he aware that many of these sub-tenants are ex-service men and that they are helpless in view of the housing shortage; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?
§ Mr. WHEATLEYI have received some representations in regard to the practice referred to by the hon. and gallant Member, but it would require legislation to prevent it, and I doubt whether it would be practicable to pass such legislation this Session.
