HC Deb 11 March 1924 vol 170 c2167W
Mr. PIELOU

asked the Minister of Pensions the number of disabled men being trained in Government instructional factories; the number of applicants Awaiting acceptance; and whether he is prepared to increase the number of instructional factories?

Miss BONDFIELD

I have been asked to reply. The number of men in training in Great Britain in Government instructional factories is 4,694, and the number on the waiting list for training is 1,939. The corresponding figures for Ireland are 515 and 2,506 respectively. Many of the men on the waiting list are not yet available for training. With regard to the last part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Bow and Bromley (Mr. Lansbury) on 7th March.
