Mr. HENDERSONA recent Return shows that out of 1,029 petty sessional divisions in England and Wales, about 170 have not appointed probation officers. In reply to the second part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the proposals of the Government in Part I of the Criminal Justice Bill, by which every petty sessional division would have the services of probation officers.
