asked the Minister of health what is the cost of the central administration of National Health Insurance benefits for insured persons, i.e., by the Ministry of Health, the Welsh Board of Health and the Scottish Board of Health, respectively?

Mr. WHEATLEY

The approximate total cost of the central administration of National Health Insurance (including expenses incurred by other Government Departments and certain amounts recoverable from insurance funds) in the year 1923 was as follows:

England—Ministry of Health, £871,000.

Wales—Welsh Board of Health, £70,600.

Scotland—Scottish Board of Health, £123,000.
