§ Mr. BAKERasked the Postmaster-General, whether he will consider the abolition of the annual limit on the amount that may be deposited by any one person in the Past Office Savings Bank?
§ Mr. SNOWDENThe hon. Member will be aware that there is no limit to the total amount which may be held by a depositor on his account at the Post Office Savings Bank, but that there is a limit of £500 as regards the amount which may be placed to his account in any one year. This limit is imposed in order to reserve the Post Office Savings Bank facilities to the class of depositors for whom they were intended by the Savings Bank legislation, and I see no reason for altering it.
