Mr. MILLS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether, seeing that the Inchcape Committee recommended that there should be an investigation with regard to the possibility of reducing the number of Army districts in India, he will say whether such investigation has been made, and with what result?

Mr. RICHARDS

No proposals have been received from the Government of India with a view to reducing the number of Army districts in India.

Mr. MILLS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether, seeing that the Inchcape Committee recommended that there should be an investigation into the necessity of retaining four Army commands, he will say whether such investigation has been commenced, and when a Report may be expected?

Mr. RICHARDS

The Government of India, after full consideration, do not propose to recommend reduction in the number of Army commands.
