CAYZERasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether, seeing that the pensions of the Indian Army Departments are considerably less than those of other services, and that the questions of increasing them to the same amount as those of the Home services, with an addition for service in India, is under consideration, and in view of the promise that steps will be taken to hasten a decision in the case of commissaries deputy and assistant commissaries of the Indian Army it is possible to reconsider the reduction of 5 per cent. as from 1st July on the pensions of these officers, with a view to it being withdrawn until a final decision is reached in regard to 2088W the whole question of pensions of commissaries, etc., of the Indian Army?
§ Mr. RICHARDSThe question under consideration is whether any improvement in the present scale of pensions of this class is necessary, and pending a decision my Noble Friend is not prepared to exempt these pensions from the general reduction.
