HC Deb 23 July 1924 vol 176 c1340W
Mr. NIXON

asked the Attorney-General if he is aware that workmen are frequently summoned to serve as common jurymen at Assize Courts and, in order to serve, they have to absent themselves from their work, with consequent loss of wages, and, in addition, they have to pay travelling and other expenses; and, in view of these hardships, will the Government take steps to make it lawful for such expenses and loss to be paid from public funds?

Mr. DAVIES

I have been asked to reply to this question. I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which the Home Secretary gave on the 27th March last to a question on this subject by the hon. and gallant Member for Barnstaple (Captain Tudor Rees).
