asked the Prime Minister the principle upon which the amount of Civil List pensions is annually fixed; and whether the sum is always deemed adequate to recognise deserving claims?

The PRIME MINISTER

The total sum is not fixed annually, but by the statutory provisions of the Civil List Act. I cannot undertake to revise the arrangement made by that Act.
