Mr. A. ROBERTSON

asked the Minister of Health if his attention has been called to the great increase in the cost of lunatic patients now chargeable to hoard of guardians; and whether the allowance of the sum of 4s. per head under the Act of 1888 could be substantially increased?

Mr. WHEATLEY

I am aware of the increased cost of maintenance of lunatics. Legislation, however, would be required for the alteration of the grant, and I cannot undertake to introduce such legislation at the present time.
