HC Deb 27 February 1924 vol 170 c502W
Mr. TILLETT

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has given consideration to the present abrogation of the law with regard to the number of persons to be carried in omnibuses and tramcars of the Metropolitan area and the unhygienic conditions of such overcrowding; and whether he purposes taking any steps to enforce the law, which was relaxed during the period of shortage of rolling-stock, which shortage has now been made up?

Mr. DAVIES

I have been asked to reply. The whole subject has been referred to the Committee on Hackney Vehicles appointed by the Minister of Transport, and pending the Report of that Committee the Home Secretary does not think that he can take any action in the matter.
