§ Mr. COOPER RAWSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the desirability of reopening the Brighton stamping office, in view of the number of deeds and other documents lost in transit between the local post offices and Somerset House and receive a deputation on the subject?
§ Mr. SNOWDENThe decision to withdraw local stamping facilities from those towns in which the volume of the work was insufficient to justify the employment of a full-time staff was made in the interests of national economy, and I regret I am unable to reverse it. In these circumstances I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by my receiving a deputation on the subject.
