§ Mr. MIDDLETONasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he has received complaints from tenants of Government-owned houses at Gretna factory that the rents are excessive and are out of all proportion to the capital value of the houses; and, if so, whether he will cause independent inquiries to be made into the allegations?
Mr. GRAHAMSome complaints have been received. It is not considered that the rents are excessive, having regard to the capital value of the houses. I have been requested by my hon. Friend to arrange for the technical officers of the Disposal and Liquidation Commission to discuss the matter in detail with him; and I shall be happy to do this.
