HC Deb 02 May 1923 vol 163 c1426W
Mr. GOSLING

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the City Councils of Bristol, Gloucester, and Worcester, together with other representative bodies, have approved a scheme to widen and deepen the canal system from Worcester to Birmingham to help the revival of trade between the Midlands and the port of Bristol, and to find work for a large number of unemployed; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Sir M. BARLOW

I have heard of this proposal which is, I believe, now under consideration by the City Council of Birmingham and other local authorities. I feel sure my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport will give careful consideration to any definite scheme which may be put forward.
