§ Mr. BECKERasked the President of the Board of Education, the amount of the economies he proposes to make in our present system of education; and will he recommend that better instruction should be given to children in the following subjects, reading, writing, and arithmetic?
§ Mr. E. WOODI would refer the hon. Member to the Board's Estimates far 1923–24 which have lately been presented to Parliament and which show a net decrease of £3,340,953 upon the Estimates for 1922–23. With regard to the second part of the Question, I shall always do my best to secure that sound instruction shall be given in reading, writing and arithmetic.
