Captain A. EVANSasked the Minister of Pensions whether it has been decided to remove the East Midland area office to Birmingham; if he is aware that this removal, if carried out, will entail the discharge of 200 East Midland ex-service men and, further, that it would cause inconvenience to many ex-service men in receipt of pensions; and what steps will taken to prevent any attempt to reduce the personnel, increasing the delays which are now prevalent?
§ Major TRYONI would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer I gave on the lath instant to the hon. and gallant Member for the Central Division of Nottingham (Captain Berkeley), of which I am sending him a copy. Adequate staff for the proper performance of the work will be provided in Binning-ham. I am, however, unable to accept the hon. and gallant Member's statement that delays are now prevalent.
