HC Deb 26 March 1923 vol 162 c50W
Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Prime Minister whether M. Venizelos has been invited to London to participate in the present discussions on peace with Turkey; whether he is the guest of His Majesty's Government; in what. capacity he is acting; and which are the Powers taking part in these discussions in addition to France, Italy, and Great Britain?

Mr. R. McNEILL

One of the points upon which no agreement had been arrived at between the Allies and Turkey, when the negotiations were suspended at Lausanne, were certain Clauses affecting the reciprocal claims of Greece upon Turkey and Turkey upon Greece, arising out of incidents during the War. M. Venizelos has been invited to London to discuss the new Clauses in this and other respects affecting Greece, which have been put forward by the Turks. In common with the other foreign delegates who are in London he is the guest of His Majesty's Government. The answer to the last part of the question is—Japan, who was one of the great Powers represented at Lausanne.
