§ Mr. NEVILLE CHAMBERLAINThe most recent figures are those for 1922, in which year the infant death rate per 1,000 children born was 74 in the case of legitimate children, and 139 in the case of illegitimate children. The corresponding figures for the year 1912 were 91 and 181, respectively.
