§ Mr. CLARRYasked the Minister of Health whether he has explored the practicability of utilsing the commodious and almost entirely unused barracks at Newport, Mon., to temporarily relieve the shortage of housing accommodation in that borough?
Lieut.-Colonel GUINNESSI have been asked to reply. Certain barracks, amongst which are those at Newport, are temporarily vacant because circumstances do not at the moment permit of all units being at their permanent peace stations. The question of the permanent location of such units is now under consideration, and it is necessary to keep Newport Barracks ready for reoccupation at short notice. I regret, therefore, that they cannot be made available for general housing purposes.
