HC Deb 02 August 1923 vol 167 c1761W
Mr. HERRIOTTS

asked the Secretary for Mines if he will give the amount of money received by each of the 12 persons who had over £7,000 from coal royalties in the County of Durham in the last financial year?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

My hon. Friend asked me to reply to this question. The information desired is only obtainable from returns, etc., in connection with the administration of the Mineral Eights Duty, and I regret that the obligations of secrecy which attach to all matters of taxation do not permit the Board of Inland Revenue to disclose individual amounts of income from any source.
