HOLBROOKasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in the Peace Treaty under negotiation with Turkey, it is proposed to extend to that country the provisions of Clauses 296 and 297 of the Treaty of Versailles charging the property of an enemy subject in this country with reparations; whether, having regard to the non-extension to Asia of the European doctrine of political nationality, he has considered the difference in effect of such provisions attaching to the property of Turks in this country according to the side of the Bosphorus on which Turkish owners may have been born; and whether it is proposed to take any and what steps to equalise the incidence of the charge?
