HC Deb 23 April 1923 vol 163 cc61-2W
Mr. A. T. DAVIES

asked the Secretary for Mines what percentage of the total number of man-shifts, excluding mans- hifts lost through stoppage of the pits, that could have been worked in each of the mining districts during the month of January, 1923, was not worked?

Lieut.-Colonel LANE-FOX

I have received these particulars in respect of only four coal mining districts up to the present time. They are: Durham, 7.85 per cent.; Northumberland 7.51 per cent.; South Wales and Monmouthshire, 7.05 per cent.; and Bristol, 3.70 per cent.
