§ Mr. RHYS DAVIESasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether all the returning officers and deputy returning officers who rendered service during the last General Election have now received remuneration for services rendered in connection with the election; and, if not, will he expedite the payment of such remuneration?
§ Major BOYD - CARPENTERThe majority of the claims received have been examined and settled—the figures being, 2281W out of the 229 Parliamentary areas for Great Britain:
- (1) 189 settled claims;
- (2) 36 claims in course of examination
- (3) 4 areas from which no claims have been received.
It. is hoped that the claims in course of examination, and the areas from which claims have not been received, will be dealt with very shortly. I should add that in every case outstanding substantial advances amounting to at least 75 per cent. of the claim, have been made to the authorities concerned.
