HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1889W
Mr. PRINGLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade for what reason the Central Importing Agency was suddenly terminated; whether the Board of Trade was dissatisfied with the working of the agency; and, if so, on what grounds

Viscount WOLMER

The agreement with the Central Importing Agency was terminated on the 31st August, 1922, as the Board of Trade were satisfied after full consideration that it was desirable to make other arrangements. These arrangements are completely satisfactory; and I doubt whether any useful purpose would be served by going into the detailed reasons which, in the opinion of the Board, rendered a change desirable.
