HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1900W
Sir.J. LEIGH

asked the Minister of Health whether he is yet in a position to announce the constitution of the proposed Committee to inquire into building prices; and whether similar power will be given to this Committee, as is allowed in Canada under the Combines Investigation Act, to summon witnesses and to compel the production of books and papers in all cases where there are suspicions that unreasonable prices are being tusked by the manufacturers of building materials?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I regret that I am not yet in a position to announce the constitution of that Committee, as it is not yet completed. As regards the last part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Tottenham North (Mr. It. Morrison) on the 28th ultimo.
