§ Mr. GAVAN DUFFYasked the Postmaster-General why a letter posted at Whitehaven at 10.30 a.m. on the morning of 2nd April (Easter Monday) was not postmarked until 2.15 p.m. and not despatched until 4 p.m., whilst the Scottish mails were despatched at the usual hours on this day, and the letter referred to ought to have gone on the 1.30 train out of Whitehaven; and whether, having regard to the fact that this neglect has resulted in a loss of £2 10s. to the person who posted the letter referred to, adequate compensation will be made to him?
