§ Mr. SEXTONasked the President of the Board of Education if he is aware that no deductions from salaries of supplementary teachers have been made in St. Helens under the Unemployment Insurance Act for the last two months, and that previous to this deductions were made for such purpose, though supplementary teachers had claimed exemption: and if he can give the reason for the change?
§ Sir M. BARLOWI have been asked to reply. A certificate of exemption from Unemployment Insurance was granted to the St. Helens Borough Council in January of this year in respect of certain classes of permanent employés of three years' service or over, including the teaching staff of the Education Department. This certificate would apparently cover the supplementary teachers in question.
