§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the popularity of the educational facilities provided for children under six, he can state the percentage of such children as compared with the numbers of all children attending the public elementary schools; and the percentage of the cost of the education of such young children as compared with the cost of elementary education in the aggregate?
§ Mr. FISHERFor the year ended the 31st March, 1920, the latest year for which figures are available, the children under six attending public elementary schools were 12 per cent. of the total number of children. The material at my disposal does not enable me to separate the expenditure upon particular classes or groups of classes in public elementary schools.
