POWNALLasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if non-service men were permitted to compete in the 1920 special clerical examination; and, if so, will he permit home service men to sit in the similar examination just announced to take place, as many of these men now employed as temporary clerks have given time and money in taking classes which would enable them to be successful in this forthcoming examination, and also they were home service, in the majority of cases, upon grounds over which they had no control?
Mr. YOUNGThe answer to the first part is in the affirmative; as regards the second part, ex-service men who served1984W with His Majesty's Forces at home for a minimum period, and who satisfy the other conditions, are eligible to compete at the forthcoming examination.
