§ Sir R. HORNEThe approximate amount of Excess Profits Duty (including Munitions Levy) in assessment, less sums shown due to be remitted, as at 7th March, 1922, was £295,00O,000. It will be understood that this amount does not represent a total of finally ascertained liabilities; considerable sums are subject to adjustment on appeal or otherwise, and it is anticipated that the duty to be ultimately received by the Exchequer will fall short of the amount now in assessment.
